My Experience

Professional Biography

I directly represented clients in either the private or public sector for nearly 15 years. After graduating as the valedictorian of my law school class, I practiced complex civil litigation at an AmLAW 100 firm in Minneapolis and then at a satellite office of a major southeastern law firm in Houston. My clients ranged from international corporations to owners of small shrimping vessels. After relocating to El Paso in 2015, I worked as in-house litigation attorney for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the D.E.A. and spent approximately two years as a special assistant United States Attorney prosecuting felony drug and firearm offenses on the U.S/Mexico border. I resigned from the federal government in 2021 to home school my young daughters during the COVID-19 pandemic. During that time, I worked as a contract staff attorney for the Texas Eighth Court of Appeals.

In short, I’m familiar with every phase of litigation. From the initial evaluation of a case, discovery, motion practice, trial, and through an appeal. As a freelance attorney, I can help you every step along the way. Or with just one of them.

Personal Biography

I grew up in small-town Iowa, where I gained a deep understanding and respect for the famous midwest work ethic. I studied history and wrestled at Central College in Pella, Iowa. Then I moved to Minnesota for law school. I currently live in El Paso with my wife, two daughters, and our English bulldog. I’m too old to wrestle, but I’m still a history buff and try to write historical fiction for fun.
